Just thought i would introduce myself and gather some information about pet peeves, pros and cons about lets plays to improve my own videos. I'm and RTS and strategy fan, anything that involves tactics or grand strategy is what i love, whether it be casual or competitive. This makes my videos longer than i would like, and more difficult to manage, but playing Rise of Nations and EUIII makes it difficult to avoid these problems. I am also partial to simulation games and RPG's. Oblivion, being one of the first PC games i really got into is one i will always have a soft spot for. In terms of LPers that i enjoy watching, i love Sips' humor and "blase" approach to games, and i am also keen on the likes of NerdCubed, Nilesy, KurtJMac and more recently Quill 18. I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on the very best and very worst aspects of a lets play videos. Even better if both examples come from the same LPer. Just to give me something i can work towards with my own videos. |

Let's see, pet peeves... I don't like when people smack their lips, cough, or sneeze. It's mostly an editing thing though since you can't just stop yourself from doing those things. You can, however, cut that part of the audio out in editing. I guess it's time to say hello and welcome to the Sanctuary.

Yeah, I totally agree with everything above. Personally, I think drinking on camera is disgusting. Especially when I have to her someone slurp on a can or bottle. It makes me gag just thinking about it... |

I tend to drink tea to relax myself when let's playing, but I always cut out when I drink so it's just a pause for the moment. Welcome to the forums and I hope you enjoy your stay, as for pet peeves I don't really like when someone has a "fake" persona. |

Thanks guys. This is the sort of stuff that i notice in some other peoples videos, but in the heat of making one myself, i forget that i don't like it. Sniffing is something i do a little during high pollen counts and such, but the viewer shouldn't have to suffer it as well i suppose! It's something i will have to keep a keen eye on from now on. |
