Hi there everyone, my name is Jamie and I'm really excited to have finally gotten around to joining this website and look forward to meeting you all. I'm 21 years old (22 in just a couple of weeks) and am from the North East of England. I've been interested in Let's Plays for almost 3 years now, ever since watching ScottishDuck17's LP of both Shenmue and Shenmue II. Only now have I finally gotten the nerve to actually give this process a go myself. YouTube fame does not interest me. Simply put I wanted to join a community where I could share my love of Let's Plays and hopefully make a few new friends along the way. Now, onto some of my favourites...
Anyways, some last minute information about myself. I currently work as a Mobile Games Developer which I thoroughly enjoy and have the pleasure of working with some truly amazing people (I do hope they never get to read this), and enjoy playing sports in my spare time; Squash, Snooker and Football. I haven't yet posted a LP on YouTube, partly as I've been so nervous about getting negative feedback, but after lurking on this forum for quite some time now I've kind of learned that criticism will only help make ourselves strive to be better LPers, so thank you for converting me to that way of thinking. Anyways, that's enough of me rambling on about myself to reduce anyone to boredom. So I will just say that I hope to get to know a lot of you and look forward to becoming part of this community. Thanks everyone, Jamie. |

Hello! My name's Drew, and it's very nice to meet you Jamie. The thing that popped out at me the most in your intro should probably be something relating to LPing, although it was actually that you like football! Soccer (I live in Murica) is just about my entire life when I'm off of the computer. Actually, I got up early this morning because we're having an open gym/field/whatever and are playing in about an hour (I'm only in High school... I think you all call that secondary school over there... Not sure. I'm 16 if that helps.). That said, I can't make this too long, as I have to prepare to kick some serious butt. xDOk, now about LPing, well, what's to say? It looks like you have the right mindset, and even if growing your channel isn't a goal of yours, I think it will still come faster with how you think now than if you did want it to grow. I've never heard of Shenmue, so I'll probably look it up later today (UNLESS OF COURSE that's going to be your first shot at LPing, then I'll be ALL OVER IT). ;P Ok, now I'm just messing with you. xD But seriously, enjoy your time here, as "here" is a great place to be. I hope I'll see you posting around!P.S. If it makes you feel better, THIS was the mess I first posted on youtube (Have since improved a lot obviously), and I've only ever gotten one seriously negative comment, which was posted a long time after the LP was already finished. A lot of people are surprisingly positive, at least in my experiences. I'm sure you'll do great! ...Or at least better than me. Lol xD

Great intro post! Glad to have you aboard and pleased you've decided to take the plunge into LP'ing. I'm very new myself but I have a lot of fun doing it and I believe I have improved a lot over the few episodes I have done so far and this forum has been a big part of that improvement. I'm from the North West of England (Manchester - United, not City) but I now live in Chicago, IL in the USA. Who's your team? (Same goes for you CaptainMarkKa - who do you follow?) Thanks again for the intro post, I like it when people put a lot of effort into introducing themselves and letting us know a little about them. |

Well, when I said that it was my life, I meant that I play/practice just about every day. I'm not a huge fan of watching sports on TV, so usually I don't. That said, I don't really follow a team. I'm weird, I know. xD Lol |

I must say I have not run across this often, especially in Football/Soccer but I can appreciate how that happens, especially over in the USA. I am just glad you enjoy the sport so much! Do you have favourite players perhaps? Or same for that, too busy playing to keep an eye on the players? Haha, I kinda enjoy the fact that you're into Soccer but don't watch it - seems...pure. |

Hi Drew, I hope you managed to have a good time playing Football (Soccer). I, myself played on Monday night as well with a bunch of people from work. Mondays are just the best day to play Football because it's a good way to end the worst day of the week! Over in England Secondary School ages are between 11-16 and College is 16-18 (or older for Mature Students). Thank you very much for the comment about having the correct mindset, I simply believe that if you set yourself up with visions of grandeur then, 9 times out of 10, you will be left bitterly disappointed. The community and getting to know likeminded people is what will ultimately bring you the most enjoyment and in the mean time will provide you with some followers and hopefully constructive criticism/feedback. I hope to eventually get around to doing a LP of Shenmue or Shenmue II, but unfortunately the storylines are so long that I feel it would be best left until I gain more experience. That, mixed with the fact that I want to do the 2 games justice make me think that I should start off with something that is close to my heart but will essentially be used to improve upon. I also took the liberty of watching some of your Pokémon videos and really did enjoy them. Considering these are some of your earlier videos and your confidence will have progressed, I really do believe that you have a natural talent for LPs. I grew up with the originals; Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow. I remember the first time I got my mum to buy me the Game Boy Colour from a store called Woolworths for my Christmas present and I got the Red and Blue versions with it (proved to be a silly choice as they were essentially mirror games of one another). When Yellow followed and you could have Pikachu follow you around I was hooked once again. Thank you for working on a series that brings back so many childhood memories for myself! This forum does seem very nice and I'm happy that I eventually got round to signing up. Thank you very much for your comment and I hope to see you around the forum as well.
Hi YoMma, thank you very much for the compliment on my first post. Considering it was only an introduction and I've done probably hundreds over the years, I still get nervous when putting myself out there (so to speak). I think the main thing to do with LPs is to have fun with it, and if that is happening then you're on to a winner. It's all about the mentality after all! With there being such a steep learning curve I definitely take on board that you can see a rapid improvement in your early videos. I personally attribute nerves to the first couple of episodes (which are almost done for myself and will be posted soon), and when you realise that it isn't so bad you relax a great deal more. I'm not a huge supporter if I'm honest, I'm ind of in the same boat as Drew. I get very little time to actually sit down and watch Football/Soccer unfortunately. I predominantly follow Blackburn (don't ask me why, I just have done for a very long time) and Darlington (somewhere close to home), so both pretty depressing to follow at the moment (although Darlington did just win the Northern League title). I forgot to mention in my original post that I'm also a massive NBA fan (Celtics in particular) and love to watch the games on the NBA League Pass, whenever I can get the time. Glad to get to know you a little better YoMma and I hope to get to know you and see you around the forums. Apologies for the rambling, to you both! Thanks again, Jamie. Oh, I had a great time, although I need to stab a bit less on defense. Overall, it was fun, and I'm doing it again tomorrow morning. xD I definitely agree with the Monday thing, especially when school's in. It's just great to do something fun after a long day! About the schooling, I've talked to a few people from the UK so I had SOME sort of idea, although I didn't know you all start college a lot earlier than over here. Two years earlier to be exact. I do understand that you don't want to do Shenmue right off the bat. I still feel the same way about certain games that I really love too, so that's respectable. However, if you keep flattering me, I'm warning you that you're going to give me a big head. xD I appreciate the kind words though, and I'm glad you enjoyed my videos. I was honestly trying to make you feel better about posting something, not advertise myself, I promise! xD But yeah, I think everyone's first LP is mostly a learning experience more than anything. Gets you into the swing of things and whatnot. If you expect things to go amazingly and get millions of subscribers in your first year of doing it, you will indeed most likely be disappointed. It takes time, so it's best to slow down and smell the roses... Is that even how the saying goes? Lol I'm not sure. Just take it day by day and everything should be alright.P.S. I did the SAME thing with Fire Red/Leaf Green and Sapphire/Ruby/Emerald. I have all of them. xD P.P.S. Don't apologize for responding! It was a very pleasant surprise that someone took the time to write something more than "Thanks for the warm welcome." And I'm really glad you did... ...because now I have a big head... xD See you around!
Nah, I don't really follow any players either. xD Thank you!
