Hello everyone! I'm TheWetRat, a new LPer from deep within the Midwest. As of this post I'm stuck in a small town in the middle of nowhere completing a summer research study in preparation for graduate school. I've had a lot of downtime with nothing to do for miles, so I've turned to putting together Let's Plays as a creative outlet! I've only put together two so far, so I figure now is a fantastic time to get feedback from others and get tapped into the community as I start to experiment more with my videos. I'm huge into older horror games, both because horror gaming was at its best in the 90's and early 2000's and because my laptop right now doesn't have the graphics card to run anything post-2006 on recommended settings. I'm most influenced by slowbeef/diabetus and, of course, retsupurae. Despite my obsession with classic horror gaming, I don't intend to ever do an LP of DarkSeed 2 just out of respect for those guys.Looking forward to getting feedback from you all and learning a thing or two about Let's Plays! See you all around! |

Oh my, hello! 90's horror games, eh? That sounds like you'll be playing games like clock tower, sanitarium etc? (well it's kind of horror), awesome. I never got Darkseed to WORK tho. Had the same exact problem as everyone else; after the second day, the game would just opt out, which was rather displeasing D: Anyway, welcome the glorious, fantastic and VERY GREY nature of the forums, and hope you enjoy your time here, for times are mostly for that purpose! Myaah. |

Was that a Simpsons line Legato - cos if so it's one of my favourites ![]() Welcome WetRat, sounds like you're coming here with exactly the right attitude. If you'd ever like feedback then go ahead and post in the thread, I'm sure a few of us would be happy to help out. I can't say I know much about 90s horror, but I do love a good horror LP (hence why I'm making one :P) mainly because I find horror, particularly supernatural plots so interesting - unfortunately it's hard to find an LPer who doesn't just scream at the game for entertainment's sake, but who also enjoys the story ![]() Hope you have a grand old time here dude

Thanks for the warm welcome! It's great that you mentioned Clock Tower--my first LP is of the first Clock Tower for the SNES. Clock Tower 2 (Clock Tower 1 in the USA) was my first survival horror game and kept me from sleeping for several nights when I was eleven. That said, I'm not terribly interested in doing the games that have been played a lot(Silent Hill, Resident Evil, etc.) and instead want to show off some of the older games that were instrumental in creating the horror genre but haven't gotten nearly enough press (eg., Clock Tower, Phantasmagoria, Project Firestart, Hellnight/Dark Messiah, etc.) It's not that I'm not a fan of the games (Silent Hill 2 is a strong contender for my favorite game of all time), but just that I want to show that there's a lot of good horror out there that a lot of people aren't aware of. |

Welcome to our community! I also am a pretty big fan of older horror and survival horror games, but tend to like the more mainstream ones better (to play anyways). I do, however, enjoy watching others showcase the lesser known ones, and am intrigued by your choice to do so! Anyways, I hope you enjoy your time here!

Hey there. You can call me Drew if you'd like. I can't say I really enjoy horror games all that much, and I actually think it's wrong of Diabetus and Slowbeef to do Retsapurae, but whatever, we'll still get along fine I'm sure. ;P Anyway, welcome to the site! That was rather depressing, but still! I hope to see you posting around. You definitely came to the right place.

Hi WetRat, and welcome to the Sanctuary ![]() I seem to have missed out on a lot of the game titles you've listed, save for Phantasmagoria, which I enjoyed immensely when I was younger. I also class games like Myst in the 'horror' genre, though I guess 'suspense' would be more fitting. Something about the crushing loneliness and the sinister overtones of the story made it a firm favourite for me, though that and many of the games in the Zork series are other examples of games that have had a lot of attention overall. Looking forward to seeing you around the forums and checking out some of your videos
