I'm working on a little vanilla minecraft series because I haven't played without mods and what have you in I don't know how long. I'm just getting back to basics, having, fun, exploring, and seeing whats new.

Greetings DragonTrainingWheels! I finally emerged from under a rock, having never watched Minecraft videos on YouTube, I gave yours a watch since it was a 'back to basics' video.
Don't worry about overreacting, having no knowledge of Minecraft beyond game osmosis, I was pretty impressed with the biomes it can create. Similarly, I wouldn't have known that was not a default texture pack if you didn't point it out. I'd guess the game tells you if you can eat something. Try the cactus if it lets you, haha.
Since most of the early days involve building up resources, tools etc., I presume the survival modes get off to a slow start, so I'll be keen to see what happens next. There is an appeal in these 'vanilla' series, as you put it. Keep it up good sir!

Thanks for the encouragement. There was definitely some missteps in my search for food. I'm on the right track now, though.

Here is episode 2. Out of the cave and back into the harsh unforgiving wilderness.

Episode 3: Its a whole new world! Arctys didn't really work out, so I cook up a new world. I also put it on hardcore difficulty this time so if I screw things up royally, theres no going back.

Today, with a modest base all set up, I take a look at a close by cave to see what might be hidden within. That's basically what you do in minecraft.

I'm working on a slightly different format for this series. keep an eye out for the next episode.
