Zelda Wind Waker HD - 3 Hearts on Hero Mode Challenge; x2 damage + No hearts to be found + 3 Hearts Only = Certain Death?

Last year Nintendo pleased many Zelda fans by releasing a HD remake for The Legend of Zelda, The Wind Waker. The game got the HD makeover while still staying true to it's gameplay and cel shading art style. The gameplay did receive a couple of updates as players could attain a Swift Sail which makes navigation of the seas 10x easier and faster. Another thing that players got to look forward to was a different game mode called Hero Mode

Hero Mode is where players receive double the damage and hearts can not be found ANYWHERE. The only means of healing is through healing potions and fairies. This mode is already punishing enough as players don't find the means to heal themselves early in the game until HALFWAY through the first dungeon! But to make things more interesting, I'm also doing the Three Heart Challenge!

The Three Heart challenge is a very difficult challenge in which players avoid picking up Heart Containers from bosses and Heart Pieces. So basically, right up to the very last boss fight you're stuck with the original three hearts the game gave you. But that coupled with the Hero Mode will probably bring me to tears at a later point in the game as the monsters get much more difficult. I'm NOT going to be going to further extremities by avoiding putting things in my bottles to heal myself. If I'm dying every 2 minutes in the game, it could get quite frustrating for viewers to watch. And if I die, I'm just going to dust myself off and keep going. But I'll record the total amount of deaths I've accumulated in the thumbnail and description of the very next video.

So join me in my quest to vanquish Ganondorf as I die 50 times along the way! Click the thumbnail(s) below to view the videos! Playlist

The beginning of the game is rather tedious and I want to get through it as quick as possible. So I apologize for skimming through most of the dialogue. But I manage to do everything up to when you first land in Forsaken Fortress in one video so that we can get on with the challenge! Oh and Link changes in front of his grandma.

To avoid potential spoilers of my challenge, feel free to see each individual reply for newer updates in the series.

Posted Image Part 2: Stupid Mistakes
The challenge officially begins as I arrive at the Forsaken Fortress and do a half-assed job at stealth. But my brain takes a nap as I do a couple of really stupid things that is sure to make you facepalm.

Hey guys, I apologize that my second video was not available for a few days. The commentary was de-synchronized and did not want to cooperate so it took a couple of days of editing to get it working. I've also fixed the url on the image. Sorry (Notsorry) for bumping.

Posted Image Part 3: POTIONS?!!!
I've made it to Dragon Roost Island and the natives who JUST met me have decided to enlist a 9 year old to climb a mountain and subdue a dragon. Sounds like a failproof plan... Now that I have a bottle, I can't find any potions anywhere!!!

Posted Image Part 4: Rated M for Majiczenith
After dominating the first part of the dungeon so far, I hope my good fortune continues as I come across one of the more difficult parts of the dungeon, including the Mini-boss. The game also presents plenty of opportunities for my twisted sense of humor to rear it's ugly head.

It's time to collect the boss key and do battle with the boss of the dungeon! I also continue my quest of making this video as rated M for Mature as possible.

Posted Image Part 6: Empty Bottle

With zero deaths (Game Overs) so far, I set sail to my next destination where greater dangers await. I make a stop to a submarine where an Empty Bottle awaits. But before I can claim it, a few annoying enemies stand in my way.

New island, new challenges, new opportunities to fail. The difficulty of the challenge rears its head again as I get careless and lose a bunch of life in wasteful fashion this video. The game also preys upon my dirty mind.

Posted Image Part 9: Game Over???

With all my bottles spent, my back is against a wall as I find myself with half a heart after a frantic battle with some killer bugs. There is much left to explore in the dungeon. Do I receive my first game over?
